Dirt Candy is a typically New York style restaurant, serving up innovative veggie and vegan cuisine with a twist, making the perfect spot for a vegan brunch or stylish dinner. The menu is super creative and a little bit wacky, proving that vegan cuisine is anything but boring, and dessert is no exception. Ever had an onion chocolate tart with smoked almond ice-cream or a cucumber semifreddo pie? No, didn’t think so. Oh, and did we mention that they have a great cocktail menu too?

Dun-well Doughnuts

A Brooklyn baby who’s now grown up and moved to Manhattan, Dun-well Doughnuts sell only vegan doughnuts, a pretty rare find here in NYC. Everything on the menu is 100% vegan, so this the spot to make a beeline for when you you suddenly get a craving for a vegan doughnut (it happens to us all the time). Their filled doughnuts come in every flavour imaginable (check out their twitter for the daily flavour or on their website here) from French toast to blueberry pistachio, but our absolute favourite would have to be peanut butter and jelly, it’s out of this world!

Clementine Bakery

One of the worst kept secrets in Brooklyn is Clementine, an all organic and all vegan bakery. They’re super popular with locals, so if you’re visiting New York and are in the area definitely drop by when those sugar cravings hit! Scones, muffins, cookies, cupcakes, Danish pastries, brownies... We could go on. You can order pies and celebration cakes, but we love just popping in and seeing what takes our fancy even if this usually results in buying more than we intended... With such a delicious selection you won’t be able to say no, and if you’re lucky you’ll arrive just as they’re pulling a tray of something delicious out of the oven so you can enjoy a vegan pastry while it’s warm!

Body & Soul Bakeshop

Cakes that are good for your body and  your soul - jackpot. From their kitchen in Brooklyn, Body & Soul Bakeshop whip up delicious cakes, cookies, muffins, brownies and pies to sell at farmer's markets around Manhattan and Brooklyn each day, you just need to check the website to find out exactly where they'll be. A lot of their treats are also gluten free, and even if you don't have much of a sweet tooth you're sure to be tempted by their savoury bakes like spicy black bean turnover and shepherd's pie. And the best bit? All of their ingredients are responsibly sourced, locally grown where possible and seasonal.
